Seed is another product that Gamber offer. Suitable stocks are sourced by crop walking during the summer and inspecting cold stores.

Over the years Gamber has built up a good working relationship with supermarket packers due to the fact that there is no conflict of interest over customers. Unlike many potato businesses Gamber deal with wholesalers and not directly with supermarkets.

Within the Gamber marketing group there is 100% committed tonnage of packing potatoes with 30,000t of raw material, which gives customers a known tonnage to work on.

Since Gamber’s formation in 1993 Euler Hermes through the National Farmers Union has provided insurance cover, which has given suppliers peace of mind in regard to bad debt.

By using Gamber’s own haulage fleet customers are able to ascertain time of delivery by using the satellite tracking facility.

Gamber’s policy is to sample all potatoes through our strict quality control assessment, which looks at the skin finish, size and waste. From here the best outlet will be sourced which can range from the UK’s main supermarkets packers and processors right down to stockfeed outlets. As the haulage can also be arranged through Gamber we can offer a fully comprehensive service.

Gamber enters into back-to-back contracts with growers and end customers, which shows commitment from both sides to building an on going relationship.

The trading team also purchases and handles other produce such as onions and apples from around the world.
